How DataSpan Began

In 1974, we opened our doors for business as Media Recovery, dedicated to helping data centers optimize their use of magnetic tape and printer ribbons through recycling.

Expanding our Team and Clientele

Over the next 20 years we grew into one of the largest distributors of data storage products and services in the country, with more than half of the Fortune 1,000 as clients.

Building the Foundation-1990’s & 2000’s

As the production of data and storage continued to grow, DataSpan responded with new and innovative ways to handle our clients growing needs.  Aligning ourselves with strategic partners and adding in-house specialized services, we successfully expanded our offerings of customized products and solutions to service every IT environment.

Renamed and Rebranded the Company

In 2008, we renamed our company DataSpan, to better reflect our commitment to focus on our customer’s most valuable asset, their data. Through innovation and expertise, we are able to help our client’s store, access, and protect their data throughout its entire lifespan.

50 Years and Beyond

DataSpan celebrated a milestone 40-year anniversary in 2014 and was acquired by Bonefish Capital. This acquisition was selected as a finalist for the 2015 D CEO Magazine M&A Awards.

The corporate focus became growing the business to ensure cutting-edge data lifecycle management practices. Through it all, we’ve been here for businesses like yours.

New Headquarters in 2017

DataSpan corporate staff moved to its present headquarters in Farmers Branch, Texas.  The company continues to thrive as this facility allows us to better serve our customers.

Evolution of the Company Continues

Our core solutions are IT physical infrastructure, data center IT services, and storage but we have partnered with exciting Market leaders as we continue to evolve our offerings.  Our emerging pillars include Security, Hosted Voice /UCaaS, Carriers, SD-Wan and Colocation.
